• Prepares, evaluates, and reviews the comprehensive plan including five-year Evaluation and Appraisal Report (EAR), and amendments and modifications as required by Chapter 650.
• Prepares, maintains, and updates short and long range plans relating to land use, community facilities, utilities and environmental systems, and for compiling and updating socioeconomic data used by the department.
• Directs and coordinates activities of historic preservation matters including staffing support to the Historic Preservation Commission.
• Prepares, coordinates, and updates all short and long term transportation plans for all modes including congestion management plans.
• Serves as staff to the Context Sensitive Streets Standards Committee set for in Section 32.702 of the Ordinance Code and serves as a member of the Subdivision Standards and Policy Advisory Committee.
• Coaches and provides direction and support to the managers, in charge of managing units within the division to insure positive outcomes and goal attainment that are responsive to customer needs.
• Communicates clear direction, manages for results and leads organizational change.
• Assigns responsibility, takes corrective action, demonstrates leadership in evaluating, developing and motivating employees.

Position Requirements: Bachelor's degree or higher in an accredited college or university degree in urban or regional planning, geography or civil engineering, community planning, architecture, landscape architecture, public administration or related field and at least seven years' experience in comprehensive community planning or at least five years of experience with a master's degree in any of the listed fields, or commensurate training and experience, and shall have proven administrative experience.
