Position Summary

The American Planning Association (APA) is a professional organization dedicated to advancing the field of urban and regional planning. We are actively seeking an experienced and forward-thinking individual to join our team as a Digital Learning Delivery Manager. This role will be responsible for collaborating with team members, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and other stakeholders to create dynamic and innovative online learning opportunities for our members.

As a Digital Learning Delivery Manager at APA, you will lead the delivery of high-quality educational programs that cater to the needs of our members. Your primary focus will be on adult learners in the online space, and you will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational offerings that empower our members with the latest knowledge and skills in urban planning.

Critical Outcomes

  • Innovative Program Development and Delivery: Successfully lead the development and implementation of cutting-edge online educational programs. These should cater specifically to the needs of urban planning professionals, ensuring content is engaging, and relevant, and utilizes the latest in educational technology to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Enhanced Member Engagement and Learning Outcomes: Achieve increases in member engagement through interactive and participatory online learning experiences. Demonstrate measurable improvements in knowledge retention and application among adult learners, directly contributing to their professional development in the field of urban planning.
  • Strategic Collaboration and Leadership: Foster effective collaborations with Subject Matter Experts, team members, and other stakeholders to continuously assess and meet the evolving learning needs of APA members. Lead by example in embracing innovation, supporting team development, and encouraging a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in digital learning delivery.

Core Responsibilities

  • Collaborative Program Development: Work with team members, SMEs, and stakeholders to identify trends in online education, assess member learning needs, and design targeted online educational programs that are innovative, engaging, and effectively address relevant topics.
  • Online Learning Management: Develop and manage online learning opportunities, which may include webinars, e-learning courses, training sessions, virtual events, and other educational experiences that contribute to the professional development of APA members.
  • Innovative Delivery Models: Explore and implement innovative online delivery models that enhance the learning experience, utilizing the latest educational technologies.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain stringent quality standards for program content and delivery, ensuring that all educational materials are accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with industry best practices.
  • Learner Engagement: Collaborate with SMEs and team members to create interactive and participatory online learning experiences that stimulate engagement and knowledge retention.
  • Evaluation and Improvement: Collect and analyze feedback from learners to continuously enhance program content, format, and delivery methods.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all online programs comply with accreditation and certification requirements as applicable.

Core Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, educational technology, business administration, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in adult education program development, instructional design, or related areas with a focus on online delivery models.
  • Proficiency in educational technology, web conferencing tools, and e-learning platforms.
  • Exceptional project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to use data for informed decision-making.
  • A creative and forward-thinking approach to adult education.

APA Dynamic Office Environment

APA offers a dynamic work environment that brings those of us in the Chicagoland area together in person two days a week, Tuesday and Thursday. This time is used to rekindle relationships, build new ones, and connect with each other formally and informally in a way we can't do online. The other three days can be worked remotely or in the office.
