FAICP Statement

Leslie Dornfeld is a respected leader of the planning profession in Arizona. Her planning legacy includes innovative plans such as the Maricopa Association of Governments Desert Spaces Plan, preserving thousands of acres of Sonoran Desert; the MAG Complete Streets Guide, the first such guide prepared in Arizona; the Casa Grande General Plan, a unique approach to creating a long-term community vision; the MAG Pedestrian Programs, resulting in over 50 projects and an investment of $25 million; and the Goodyear Civic Center Plan, creating a town center for a Phoenix suburb. Inducted in 2012.

Professional Biography

A multidisciplinary planner with over 30 years of experience in planning, community engagement and design, Leslie is the principal of PLAN*et in 2010, a multi-disciplinary planning, design, and policy firm. Leslie's professional accomplishments include leading the development of the APA National Planning Achievement Award for Urban Design winner Greening Lower Grand Avenue Plan, serving as the chair the City of Phoenix Complete Streets Committee, past Treasurer & Board member for the Arizona Planning Association, & as a member of the Urban Land Institute Technical Assistance Panel Committee. Leslie’s unique perspective reflects her extensive public, private and not-for profit planning experience. As owner of PLAN*et, Leslie remains committed to creating great places guided by innovative plans, mentoring, and building partnerships that sustain great places. Leslie graduated Vassar College with an AB in Science, Technology, and Society and the University of Pennsylvania with a Master of Urban Planning.
