Happy Anniversary APA!

On October 1, 2003, the American Planning Association marked its 25th anniversary. APA came into being in 1978 when the American Institute of Planners and the American Society of Planning Officials consolidated into a single organization dedicated to the advancement of planning.

During the next 12 months, APA will celebrate its first quarter-century with special events, charter member reminiscences, "Top 25" lists, and more. The centerpiece of our 25th anniversary celebration will be the 2004 National Planning Conference April 24-28 in Washington, D.C.

We're also looking ahead to our 100th anniversary in 2009. How can we age 75 years in only six? While our two predecessor organizations were incorporated in 1917 and 1934, we actually trace our beginning all the way back to 1909 and the first National Conference on City Planning, also held in Washington, D.C.

We hope you'll celebrate with us. We'll add links to this page throughout the year, so bookmark here and stop by often to see what's new.
