APA and U.S. Department of Commerce to Promote American Business in China In the fall of 2005, the U.S. Department of Commerce accepted APA's application
to develop marketing, promotion, and technical assistance to U.S. planning
and design firms wishing to work in Chinese market during the next three
years. This is the result of a long term effort by APA, working with the
International Trade Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce,
to promote the use of American design, planning, and engineering services
in the fast growing China market. This cooperative agreement will
facilitate APA's efforts to help shape the future of planning
in China and to build a strong American presence by helping American
firms enter the Chinese market through its China initiative. This
initiative includes exchanges, training, certification, special projects, and
marketing efforts. APA's work in China encourages new opportunities not only
for the planning and design sector, but related industries such as engineering,
architecture, landscaping, construction, transportation, logistics, energy,
and environmental protection. Joint Workshop, February 28, 2006
