Webinar: CanVis Virtual Workshop

NOAA Coastal Services Center

Free event

Online webinar open to all.

CanVis is a visualization program used to "see" potential impacts from coastal development or environmental changes. Users can download background pictures and insert the objects (hotel, house, marina, or other objects) of their choosing. The software is used by municipalities to brainstorm new ideas and policies, undertake project planning, and make presentations.

After completing this course, participants will be able to:

• Discuss basic visualization concepts and options
• Acquire their own imagery for visualizations
• Identify ethical and legal issues associated with photo-realistic simulations
• Demonstrate basic knowledge of what CanVis is, as well as its advantages and limitations
• Understand which scenarios work best with CanVis
• Create visualizations using many of the software’s tools and functions
• Explore future project ideas and potential applications
