Energy in SW Florida - Florida Energy Resilience Strategy

APA Florida Chapter, Promised Lands SectionFort Myers, FL

The Southwest Florida Regional Planning Council in partnership with several organizations such as the Promised Lands Section of the APA of Florida will provide professional training at a half-day program for planners, environmental professionals, energy experts and the general public in Southwest Florida.

Speakers will share information on power alternatives and resiliency, motor fuel alternatives, energy conservation, public and private investment in energy, and other vital environmental and planning-related topics.

Having affordable and reliable energy is critical to Florida’s economy and environment. Regional planning councils in Florida in cooperation with the US Economic Development Administration, US Department of Energy and Florida Office of Energy are reviewing energy issues in their region, collecting recommendations for goals, strategies and measures to be assembled into a statewide energy resiliency strategy.

This session is designed to meet a specific planning related training objective – exploring new approaches to problems in energy, conservation, transportation and protection of the natural environment in Florida.

A series of expert speakers will provide presentations with opportunities for group interaction and questions and answers.

The educational objective will be appropriate for AICP members as they learn new developments in planning, the environment and other topics of interest in SW Florida. The speakers will draw on professional experience in land use planning, local government, and energy/environmental sciences. The content will not be basic in nature, but will be an in depth discussion about critical matters to planners and other professionals.
