Shared Parking PlanningParsons BrinckerhoffQueens-Astoria, NY The presentation focuses on shared parking as an alternative to traditional code-based parking planning. The session includes a brief discussion of the relationship between traditional codes and shared parking-based planning, followed by a discussion of the modeling process and the challenges that arise in creating a shared parking model. After attending this presentation, participants should be able to: 1. Recognize the impact of postwar urban planning on parking requirements and the development process.
2. Identify the benefit of a shared parking approach over traditional code requirements.
3. Determine how the shared parking model works.
4. Tell how the adjustments used, and how can they be tailored to site conditions so the model isn’t generic.
5. Describe the limits of shared parking, i.e., when modeling become “wishful thinking”.
