IES Planning Professionals Luncheon – February 2013 - Kim Pearman-Gillman of McKinstry Construction CorporationAPA Washington ChapterSpokane, WA Free event The Professional Planners Luncheon Series provides an opportunity for planners to meet with other professionals working in the community on issues related to planning.
This month we will be meeting at McKinstry’s award-winning SIERR Building at McKinstry Station – a historic electric railcar depot that now serves as the base for McKinstry’s Inland Northwest operations.
Kim-Pearman-Gillman will present the latest regarding the McInstry Innovation Center which houses new and emerging companies together with life sciences, education, high tech and clean tech firms to foster the advancement of construction technology, products and services.
Instructors: Kim Pearman-Gillman Kim Pearman-Gillman joined McKinstry in July of 2009 as Director . Her diverse business background has included such prominent leadership positions as Executive VP of Marketing for Itron, Inc., President for KPG Consultancy, LLC, Sr. Vice President of Avista Development, a subsidiary of Avista Corp., Economic Development Advisor City of Spokane, among others.
Pearman-Gillman brings more than 26 years of senior leadership experience to bear spanning the private, public, and non-profit sectors as well as extensive strategic expertise in economic development and community relations, project management, marketing, communications, and sales. She has over 18 years experience in the energy field and has worked in the utility, high-tech, manufacturing, and consumer goods industries.
Over the years, Pearman-Gillman has amassed an impressive list of business and community contacts and is a well-known figure in the Spokane area having been part of a number of major economic development projects in the downtown area. He most recent redevelopment projects include working on McKinstry’s Award winning SIERR building and helping facilitate the redevelopment of Spokane’s University District as Chair of the University District board which recently achieve its designation as a new Public Development Authority. As a loaned executive from Avista, she established Department of Economic Development for the City of Spokane and served as its first advisor, spearheaded the development of Spokane’s downtown University District at Riverpoint, became founding CEO of the Inland Northwest Technology Education Center. Her other development projects include the National Preservation Award Winning Steam Plant Square, the Courtyard Office Center as well as chairing the redevelopment of the Davenport Arts District for four years during its recent resurgence.
Ms. Pearman-Gillman has received numerous awards in recognitionof her tireless work for a number of community and business organizations. In addition to those listed at left, Kim was Technet’s Catalyst Innovator of the Year 2004; WA Governor’s Economic Development Award for Leadership 2003; YWCA’s Woman of Achievement in the Professional Category 2002and co-chaired the City of Spokane’s successful bid to win the title of “Seven Intelligent Communities of the World” from the World Teleport Association for 2004. As a tribute to her visionary leadership and standing in the community, Mayor John T. Powers Jr. proclaimed June 6th, 2003, “Kim Possible” Day.
