Pathway to Transition: Efforts of NATO Training Mission – Afghanistan from 2009 to 2011

This seminar focuses on international/overseas planning, specifically the rebuilding, redeveloping, and transition taking place in Afghanistan. The instructor, Dr. Jack D. Kem, worked first-hand with NATO’s Training Mission there for two years, coordinating with various national government and local community entities. Special emphasis will be made to his planning experiences, efforts, and specific challenges in Afghanistan, such as property rights issues, building construction standards, siting considerations, contract oversight, and facility engineering. Dr. Kem is highly qualified to lead a discussion on this matter and will answer questions posed by the audience following his presentation. An announcement notice for this event will be distributed to all KCAPA section members, including both AICP and non-AICP members.
