National Capital Planning CommissionWashington, DC

Free event

Washington's horizontal skyline is shaped by the Height of Buildings Act of 1910, a federal law which regulates the height of all buildings within Washington, DC. But, is this the right policy to help guide future growth in the nation’s capital? A panel of international experts will debate the role governments play in managing building height in capital cities worldwide and examine strategies to balance city character and economic vitality. The panel discussion is part the Washington, DC Height Master Plan, a joint initiative between the National Capital Planning Commission and the District of Columbia Office of Planning.
