City of Orlando Main Street Program

Florida Planning and Zoning AssociationWinter Park, FL

The purpose of the luncheon event is to inform local planning professionals of the Orlando Main Street program and how the implementation and operation of the program has evolved into a local success story. The speaker for the event is Pauline Eaton who has run the program since 2007. Pauline is responsible for the development, application, organization, technical assistance, and training for Orlando’s neighborhood commercial districts.

The Orlando Main Street program is the first urban, citywide Main Street coordinating program in the entire Southeast. The presentation for the luncheon will include an overview of the program, the main street four point approach, the eight guiding principles methodology, success stories, and lessons learned since implementing the main street program. The Florida Planning & Zoning association is hopeful that the attendees will learn about urban design techniques in constrained corridors, community involvement strategies, public outreach methods through social media, business revitalization incentive programs, context sensitive design, and collaboration efforts involving public and private entities.
