Former Miami Mayor Manuel Diaz discusses his new book sharing lessons learned from governing one of the most diverse and dynamic urban communities in the United States. Part memoir, part political primer, "Miami Transformed" offers a straightforward look at Diaz's brand of holistic, pragmatic urban leadership that combines public investment in education and infrastructure with private sector partnerships. Participants will learn about "Miami 21". Launched by Mayor Diaz three years ago, "Miami 21" is a comprehensive master plan for Miami based on new urbanism and smart growth principles, which includes economic development, park and public places, transportation, historic preservation, and arts and culture.
