When Business Friendly Happens To Planners: Meeting Job Expectations & The Code of EthicsAPA California Chapter, Northern SectionOakland, CA In a down economy, every elected official wants business-friendly customer service. What does that mean to planners responsible for implementing adopted plans and ordinances? How can planners meet the expectations for expedited everything while being attentive to community engagement and the legal obligations, including the AICP Code of Ethics?
This session will help identify how planners can help lead the implementation
More Instructors: Colette Meunier AICP Colette Meunier, AICP is the Ethics Review Director for
the Northern Section of APA California. She has given
several ethics training sessions in 2010 and 2011 and has
provided exam preparation training for AICP candidates.
Since 2005, she has worked as a project manager with
LSA Associates, Inc. and as an independent consultant on
a variety of environmental review and development
entitlement projects. She also provides planning and
CEQA training for Boards, Commissions and staff. Before
entering the private sector, she worked for nearly 28
years for public planning agencies, including Benicia, the
City of Alameda, and Marin County in California; and for
Burlington, Massachusetts and Edmonton, Canada. In
these positions she managed advanced planning, current
planning, historic preservation, environmental review,
building permit and inspections, and code compliance.
She has a Masters In City and Regional Planning from UC
Berkeley. Hason Hom AICP Hanson Hom, AICP has over 30 years of public sector planning experience and has served as a Community Development Director for over 12 years in two cities: previously in San Leandro and for the past four years in Sunnyvale. He has overseen several planning projects that have received honor awards from the APA California Chapter. He is currently the Immediate Past Director of the APA California Northern Section, and was formerly the Section’s Ethics Review Director. Mr. Hom has presented at the state and national APA conferences on various topics, including the AICP Code of Ethics, and has provided exam preparation training for AICP candidates. He has a degree and license in landscape architecture from U.C. Berkeley, a Masters of Public Administration from Cal State East Bay and a Masters of Urban and Regional Planning from San Jose State University. He is also a certified Economic Development Finance Professional. Scott Davidson AICP A member of APA and AICP for over 20 years, Scott has worked in the public and private sectors to develop and implement land use policies and programs, and to facilitate redevelopment and community benefit projects. In the course of his career, Scott has not only worked on projects that have resulted in the construction of affordable housing, habitat enhancements, emergency service facilities, and recreation improvements, he has also worked with communities to define objectives and identify the means by which the objectives may be accomplished. Currently a project manager with PMC (greater San Francisco Bay Area), Scott is helping communities plan for future infrastructure and service needs that include adaptation and resiliency planning for climate change. Scott has recently joined the APA Northern California Chapter Board as Advertising Director where he will work to enhance exposure of the organization and increase awareness of planning issues and events.
