Adaptive Traffic Control

Parsons BrinckerhoffWhite Plains, NY

The “Adaptive – State of the Practice” presentation provides a summary of two nationwide surveys conducted on adaptive traffic control. The surveys were conducted to investigate the cost, maintenance and reliability aspects of the most common adaptive technologies. These are items that are regularly difficult to uncover even though they are all key items when investigating or considering an adaptive deployment. Combining the information in the two surveys provides a snapshot of the positive trajectory adaptive traffic control is experiencing in the U.S. An example implementation from White Plains, NY will be described.
