The Capital Region Economy and New Housing in Downtown Hartford: What's Next? APA Connecticut ChapterHartford, CT This program will explore macro-level economic trends in the Capital Region and their impact on the development of multi-family housing in Downtown Hartford.
Paul Barrett, a specialist at Cushman & Wakefield on the link between human capital and business location, will lay out the current economic and employment conditions in Hartford and how they are influencing the housing supply and demand in Downtown.
Following his presentation, a panel of multi-family developers, government officials and local business leaders will discuss the opportunities for housing in Downtown and their connection to the broader economic health of the Capital Region.
The planning related objectives are to inform planners about changes in demographic trends which affect and uses. Planners will need to be prepared to adjust land use policies, regulations, and development programs to react to these changes.
The program will be presented at above the educational level of a planner with 2 years of experience.

Paul has fifteen years of experience leveraging his expertise in economic and planning analysis for public and private sector clients. His experience spans multiple industries including Financial Services, Information Technology, Logistics, Health Care and Customer Service. His focus is on the linkage between human capital and location, and he has developed 60+ corporate location strategies since joining the firm in 2005.
Prior to 2005, Paul worked for the Baltimore City Department of Planning and for a Fiscal Intermediary managing the Medicare Program.
