APA CD-ROM: Confronting NIMBYs

American Planning Association
CD-ROM, IL

"Not in my back yard!" is a cry familiar to most planning commissions and city councils. Yet communities must accommodate legally mandated land uses that aren't popular. In this training CD-ROM, presenters discuss the ever-evolving nature of NIMBYism and how public-involvement techniques and education can help communities cope with the "not in my back yard" phenomenon. You will gain insights into how to work with the community to accommodate difficult uses, address public anger, and keep everyone apprised of acceptable solutions and legal responsibilities.
