New Urbanism Division Elections

The New Urbanism Division will be holding its elections during January-February 2009. Ballots will be distributed via e-mail, so be sure the information in your APA profile is up to date.

  • Make necessary changes, then Submit all Details at the bottom of the screen
  • The changes become effective immediately. DO NOT CREATE A NEW RECORD.

As the new leaders will take office at the Division Annual Business Meeting during the 2009 APA National Planning Conference in Minneapolis, April 25-29, all candidates should plan to attend the conference.

Positions include: Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary-Treasurer, with all terms running for two years, beginning at the 2009 APA National Planning Conference. Please review the general descriptions of these positions.

Eligibility Requirements

All nominees must be paid-up members of the APA and the New Urbanism Division. Elected officers may not hold any elected APA national position.

Petition Process

To petition to add a candidate for one of the elected positions to the slate:

  • Submit a petition signed by at least 15 current New Urbanism Division members.
  • Prepare and submit a brief (not more than 300 words) position statement and a concise summary of your background and qualifications to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. Be sure to include any APA or other volunteer leadership experience.
  • Send the signed petitions and your statement to Clarence Eng, AICP, Nominating Committee Chair, NUD@citiesthatwork.com before December 19, 2008.
  • The Nominating Committee will review the petition and present a final slate of candidates for each office.
  • Each candidate's unedited statement will be posted on the Division's website and distributed to the membership.
