The City Planner is a supervisory position working under the direction of the City Manager. The Planner must exercise independent judgment when administering the municipal code in areas of planning, zoning, historic preservation, code enforcement, and geographic information services. The Planner assists the City Manager in developing economic development strategies, provides administrative support to the Planning and Zoning Commission, and supervises the Planning and Zoning Administrative Assistant III.
The applicant must have a Bachelor’s degree in Planning and three (3) years of professional Planning experience or a minimum of eight (8) years of professional Planning experience, and a valid Alaska driver’s license, or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
