Planner I - Performs entry level work in current planning with emphasis on gathering, compiling and analyzing data; preparing maps and graphics; writing staff reports; issuing zoning permits; and handling inquiries from the public. Desire a four-year degree with major coursework in planning, civil engineering, architecture, economics, sociology or a related field and two years of planning or related experience. Computer and GIS knowledge desirable. Grade 41, salary: mid to high 30s, DOQ.
Planner II - Depending on qualifications, a successful candidate may start out as Planner II. Planner II works with minimal supervision with responsibilities that include a variety of current planning duties to include research and analysis, holding pre-development meetings, preparing maps and graphics, writing staff reports, issuing zoning permits and handling inquiries from the public. Provides support for long-range and transportation planning teams. Desire a four-year degree in urban and regional planning and three years experience in government or private sector planning. Grade 43, salary: high 30s to low 40s, DOQ.
Must possess/obtain a valid MT driver’s license, have the ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with internal and external customers, possess analytical skills, be able to multi task, work independently, and be proficient in written and verbal communication.
