We are seeking a Travel Demand Modeler to work in our modeling group in our Chicago or Denver office. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a dynamic team in a collegial environment to support statistical modeling, traditional and advanced model development and application, quantitative data analysis, and geographic information system (GIS) projects. Responsibilities include developing model input data, estimating parameters, analyzing travel surveys and socioeconomic data, network coding/editing, validating travel demand models, conducting research on quantitative methods and modeling techniques, and preparing technical documentation.
Qualifications: Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering, Planning, or other related field. Strong analytical skills reflecting expertise in statistical analysis, model estimation techniques, and transportation planning applications. Experience working with statistical packages (e.g., SAS, SPSS, ALOGIT, Limdep, or R); working knowledge of one or more travel demand modeling platforms (e.g., TransCAD, Cube, or EMME); experience with Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; and strong oral and written communications skills.
Knowledge of GIS (e.g., ArcGIS or TransCAD); programming experience in GISDK or Cube/TP+; or experience in other programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL, Visual Basic, Java, C++, Fortran) a plus.
