The Urban and Regional Planning (URP) Graduate Program in the College of Architecture at the University of Texas at San Antonio, invites qualified individuals to apply for a full-time, nine-month, faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, beginning in August 2014 pending budget approval.
Responsibilities for the position include developing and teaching a wide range of graduate planning courses. Emerging needs are in the fields of economic development, health planning, demography, research methods for planning, geographic information systems (GIS), land use management, and rural development.
Candidates should have a clear research agenda and be prepared to participate in the development of the URP Graduate Program. The candidate is expected to conduct scholarly research at a level that promises future recognition and make service contributions to the URP Graduate Program, College, and University. All URP Planning courses are taught at UTSA’s Downtown Campus and evening courses are necessary.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Planning or a related field from an accredited institution. An ABD status on the Ph.D. may be considered, but the candidate must complete their degree by May 2014.
Preferred qualifications: A Ph.D. in urban and regional planning. Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the teaching areas cited above. Articulated potential for teaching, research, and scholarship.
