The Village of Montgomery, 18,438 pop., covering 9.51 sq. miles seeks candidates for the position of Community Development Director. Montgomery is a growing community on the south side of Aurora, IL approximately 40 miles from Chicago. The community experienced rapid growth during the last decade and the department is currently undergoing a new comprehensive planning effort to guide future growth in the community. The Community Development Director reports to the Village Administrator and is responsible for the leadership of the Village’s community development programs including planning, building, code enforcement and economic development.
The department is comprised of 4 positions including a Senior Planner, Building Inspections Supervisor, part-time Code Enforcement Officer and an Administrative Assistant. The Director serves as the key advisor to the Village Board and Village Administrator on all development policy matters including: the formation, adoption and enforcement of zoning regulations and comprehensive plans; the review and assessment of development plans and proposals for land use; and the administration of building and other related codes.
Ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in urban planning or a closely related field, with 7 years of increasingly responsible administrative and supervisory experience. Master’s degree and/or AICP, IEDC certifications desirable.
Salary range for 2013 is: $87,947- $127,523. Appointment salary DOQ. Excellent benefits. Residency is not required.
