The City and County of Denver is seeking a highly motivated, creative and accomplished individual with urban design, city planning, and program management or related professional experience to join our Planning Services team. The position will offer the opportunity to lead as well as participate on interdisciplinary teams on a variety of exciting and complex land use and transportation initiatives. As a key part of the planning team, the Principal City Planner will develop and contribute to City projects, plans, policies and practices with a long-range, comprehensive perspective as well as from an area or site specific perspective.
The Principal City Planner is expected to: (1) undertake and play a leadership role in site-specific urban design reviews; (2) contribute urban design expertise at all scales; (3) be a City spokesperson to the community on the importance of quality urban design; and (4) ensure the consistent integration of urban design principles into Small Area Plans, General Development Plans and major city infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate possesses the ability to clearly communicate ideas and concepts in writing, in oral presentations, and graphically.
