Coral Gables operates under a commission/manager form of government and is well known for its active and involved citizenry. The City Planner coordinates the planning and zoning functions of the Planning and Zoning Division and is responsible for applying independent judgment and professional planning techniques and best practices to resolve problems and enhance the City’s quality of life. The ideal candidate must be able to think strategically and exercise initiative and judgment. Reports to the Director of planning and Zoning.
A Bachelor’s degree in planning, architecture, public administration or related field from an accredited university. Advance degree preferred. Certification with the American Institute of Certified Planners desirable.
A minimum of five (5) years responsible experience in city, county, or regional planning with at least three (3) years in a supervisory capacity.
Skill in the use of AutoCAD, GIS, or other relevant software is desirable.
