Performs a variety of duties in support of the Community Development Department services and functions including in the areas of development planning and permit processing; provides customer service to applicants, developers, consultants, the general public, and outside organizations and agencies regarding City codes, policies, standards, and processes; and performs related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Associates degree from an accredited college or university, a minimum typing speed of 55wpm; and three to four years of related experience required. Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job, considered.
IMPORTANT ATTRIBUTES: Knowledge of General office procedures, policies and practices, as well as basic knowledge of computer and other office equipment; zoning, land development code, covenants and restrictions, and City, State and Federal codes and regulations; principles and techniques of customer service skills; and planning and zoning as they relate to ordinances governing land use. Skill in communicating clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing; preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence and other written materials; using a computer to quickly and accurately enter and retrieve data and information; Freedom of Information Act; researching, compiling, and summarizing a variety of informational and statistical data and materials; correct English usage, including spelling, grammar, punctuation and vocabulary; and standard business arithmetic, including percentages and decimals.
Must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Work is performed in a normal office environment with little exposure to outdoor temperatures or dirt and dust. Working conditions are typically moderately quiet.
