The Chatham County-Savannah Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC) seeks an experienced planner to join a team of professionals responsible for reviewing land development proposals including site plans, subdivisions, zoning petitions and design review in historic districts. Additional activities may include participation in rewriting the zoning ordinance for Chatham County, Georgia, and the City of Savannah. The position requires skills and experience in land use planning, zoning, urban design and historic preservation. GIS experience is required. Salary is negotiable, commensurate with experience and abilities. Applicants must possess exceptional writing, presentation, and analytical skills as well as the ability to work with citizen groups.
Education and experience requirements are: a) Bachelor’s Degree in urban or regional planning, historic preservation or a degree in a related field and four years professional planning experience; or, b) Master’s Degree in urban or regional planning, historic preservation or related field and two years experience. AICP certification is desirable but not required.
