Kankakee County, Illinois is seeking to fill a position of Transportation Planner for the Kankakee Area Transportation Study (MPO) for the Kankakee, Illinois area. The applicant will assist in the preparation of documents such as the Unified Work Program and the Transportation Improvement Program, and will assist in the management of a Long-Range Transportation Plan update currently in progress. Duties will also include transit planning, public involvement, and traffic safety planning.
Duties will include analyses of socio-economic data, land use and development data, transit data and transportation related information. Responsibilities will include the preparation of maps, reports, correspondence and presentations.
Computer skills needed include ESRI GIS software and office suite software.
This position is not an entry level position, and will require a Bachelor's degree in urban/regional planning, transportation planning, GIS or related fields from an accredited college and 3 to 5 years experience in MPO planning or transportation related planning is preferred. Experience in the preparation or administration of state and federal grants should be noted in resume.
Starting salary range is $43,000 to $48,000 for an experienced planner, plus an employee benefits package and IMRF retirement plan.
