This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a team dedicated to ensuring that development in unincorporated areas of Washington County, Oregon complies with state, regional, and county plans, policies, and codes. The Washington County Board of County Commissioners continues to recognize the importance of current planning as key to our communities' livability and economic growth. This position is integral in providing the department the ability to respond to the community, our Board, County Administrative Office, Director, and other departments and divisions proactively.
Reporting to and in collaboration with the Manager of Planning and Development Services, the Principal Planner is responsible for overall development and technical oversight of the Current Planning program within our Department of Land Use and Transportation.
Successful candidates will possess college level training in planning, urban studies, architecture or a related field; and advanced level experience in community and neighborhood planning and current/land development planning to include the interpretation and legal processing of land development regulations and legal aspects of land use planning and implementation measures; and experience in supervising, or leading the work and training of professional planning staff.
