Come join us for a look at an often obscure side of LA in a fun lesson on the City's glitzy past, unexpected architecture, and outright funkiness; from the top of a double-decker bus! The Los Angeles Museum of Neon Art hosts this narrated tour of the best neon signs, movie marquees and neon art in Downtown, Chinatown and Hollywood. Urban anthropologist Eric Lynxwiler, dubbed "Mr. Saturday Night" by LA Weekly, delivers a factual yet entertaining lesson on LA's past, present, and future. Bring cash for snacks and dress warm for this tour as we will be in the open air... and watch out for tree branches!

Join the Friends of Griffith Park for a night hike through the nation's largest urban park, an island in a metropolitan sea. Explore some of Griffith Park's 50 miles of trails for spectacular views of City lights. The hike will likely be on dirt fire roads, about 3 miles long, and about 750 feet in elevation gain. While hiking boots are not required, they are recommended. Sturdy tennis shoes will do, but no flip-flops are allowed. Bring water, a long-sleeved shirt or jacket, and a camera. While there should be enough ambient light to see, if you'd like to bring a flashlight, please bring a red-colored filter. Light snacks will be provided, but bring your own food if not eating before the event.This event is weather-dependent; if rain is forecast 24 hours in advance, the event will be cancelled. Bus pick-up at 6:15 p.m. at the JW Marriot main entrance on Olympic Blvd. $18, Price includes bus transportation to Griffith Park and guided hike.
