Overlooked America Receives Book Award

Planners Press book honored in Independent Publisher Awards

CHICAGO Overlooked America, published by APA's Planners Press, was selected for a bronze Independent Publisher Book Award (IPPY) in the category of "Essay/Creative Non-Fiction."

The 2008 book is a compilation of Planning magazine articles that takes a closer look at the individuals whose daily struggles often go unnoticed — migrant workers, sex offenders, urban Indians, elderly who do not drive, Hurricane Katrina children, and others. The articles explore how planners are uniquely positioned to help address their needs.

Overlooked America challenges the traditional definitions of "at-risk" populations in the U.S. This progressive volume helps create a national dialogue using a comprehensive and systematic method of identifying the problems and offering solutions.

The IPPY awards are presented by IndependentPublisher.com.

Overlooked America is available for $44.95 (APA member price $29.95) through APA PlanningBooks.com. ISBN: 9781932364507.
