Land Development Regulations

Traditional zoning ordinances and building codes can inhibit the ability of communities to design projects and implement plans that further Smart Growth, such as infill housing, mixed uses, and transit oriented development. As communities evaluate/audit their existing land development regulations (ordinances, statutes, codes, etc.), they should realize many resources exist to inform their decisions to grow smarter.

Several partner organizations from the Smart Growth Network came together collaboratively to design and launch this special website to help communities adopt and implement changes to their land development regulations that facilitate Smart Growth.
