Nonstructural flood risk-management measures reduce flood risks without structurally changing anything beyond individual properties or adversely affecting flood levels in the watershed. Drawing from a history of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers- and FEMA-sponsored projects, this poster will describe various measures that have been implemented successfully, why such measures were recommended, and why they were considered appropriate to the flood risks of the community.
