Zoning for Group Homes

Date: Sunday, April 14

Time: 2:30PM - 3:45PM

CM | 1.25

Group homes provide an important community service and resource for many vulnerable segments of the population. Yet they often face stiff community opposition during the zoning approval process and remain one of the principal targets of NIMBYism. This session will explore the current state of the Fair Housing Amendments Act, enacted in 1988, as it pertains to zoning for group homes and provide planners with successful strategies to avoid neighborhood conflict.
