Geographic information systems are a vital tool for developing a pedestrian network. This session highlights San Francisco’s WalkFirst project to show how planners can use data and graphics to represent existing street conditions and pedestrian activity—and how decision makers can employ this information to set policy goals and prioritize streetscape improvements. Effective use of maps and graphics will be emphasized.
