The New Role of Local Transportation Financing

For most of the “ISTEA era,” the primary role of local transportation funding has been as a match for bigger federal and state funding. Increasingly, however, communities aren’t waiting for their funding needs to be solved in Washington. This session will look at the new approaches being taken by cash-strapped local governments and transit agencies, from dedicated taxes approved at the ballot box to innovative investment structures.
