Transforming Pavement into Parks

Date: Tuesday, April 16

Time: 7:30AM - 8:45AM

CM | 1.25

How can cities quickly, yet inexpensively, create new public spaces? This session will examine the growing trend of removable urban interventions (or “parklets”) to build new public spaces. These on-street interventions are quickly emerging as an effective tool for enlivening public spaces, providing pedestrian amenities, and creating small pockets of vibrant open space within dense urban areas. Hear from cities that have implemented “parklet” programs. What worked? And what didn’t?
