Bio: Douglas Melnick, AICP is Director of Planning and Sustainability for the City of Albany where he oversees land use, neighborhood, & long-range planning, as well as all of the City’s climate protection efforts, including the development and management of Albany's municipal Office of Energy and Sustainability. This office developed the City’s baseline ghg inventory and the City’s Climate Action and Adaptation Plan, which was incorporated into Albany 2030, the city’s first comprehensive plan. He serves on NYSDEC's Sea-Level Rise Task Force Infrastructure Work Group and Hudson River Estuary Management Advisory Committee, New York State’s Climate Smart Communities Certification Advisory Committee, ICLEI's Climate Resilient Community Task Force, and the NYS Sustainable Shoreline's Advisory Committee. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners, the Urban Sustainability Directors Network and a National Charrette Institute Certified Facilitator. He previously worked in the non-profit sector in land conservation and urban revitalization and has served as Executive Director of the Albany County Land Conservancy and as a Planner for Capital District Community Gardens in Troy, NY.
