Bio: I am currently the Planning Director at the Albemarle Commission in Hertford, North Carolina. The Albemarle Commission is a ten county council of government in Eastern North Carolina. I oversee the Rural Planning Organization which provides transportation planning for the region. The Albemarle Rural Planning Organization manages the largest planning region in the state and involves countywide multi-modal transportation plans, local bicycle and pedestrian planning, and GIS planning. Our region consists of ten counties and several municipalities that span the Outer Banks region, two major inland sounds, four ferry routes and the longest bridge in North Carolina. My position has helped improve the regional by providing the region’s first comprehensive multi-modal countywide transportation plans. These plans are used for NCDOT and locals to help strategize and prioritize major highway, pedestrian, bicycle, ferry and transit facilities. We recently received funding from North Carolina Department of Transportation to develop a long range regional bicycle plan. This plan will not only help provide short term and long term recommendations but will also give local towns and counties localized maps to promote biking and nearby hotspots to tourists and residents.
Education: I earned my Masters Degree in Urban Planning from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. I also received my bachelors degree from Oakland University in Rochester Hills, Michigan in Sociology.
