How can regional partners work together to craft significant economic development projects while respecting sensitive ecosystems? Visit several Northwest Indiana sites—including Whiting’s Lakefront Park and Oil City Stadium, Gary’s Marquette Park and Gary/Chicago Airport, Portage’s Lakefront Park—and learn the role Northwest Indiana’s Marquette Plan has played in each. The plan—a collaborative lakeshore reinvestment strategy—focused on projects that enhanced the Lake Michigan shoreline while respecting its sensitive ecosystems. The tour will also include a visit to a working steel mill as well as Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and Indiana Dunes State Park. Transportation: Motorcoach, walking. Includes lunch.
