Moving Freight, Moving Local and Regional Economies
Activity Code: S565
Date: Monday, April 28
For many communities, a key element of their economic development strategy is linked to freight, corporate supply chains and goods mobility. This session will look at the key trends in the economic development of freight transportation from the implications of the widening of the Panama Canal to ‘aerotropolis’ development strategies. Experts will also discuss the work of the new federal freight council and national freight plan required by MAP-21. Explore how the challenges of funding, mobility and environmental justice in freight planning are being addressed and the implications for regional development plans.
