This year’s National Planning Conference offers over 325 sessions, providing an array of opportunities for education and networking. On Sunday, April 14, NPC19 will feature a series of events just for students and emerging planners.
#StudentSunday activities are centered on career development, post-graduation transition into the “real world,” and other fun, student-centric sessions and events. With a special thanks to the Student Representatives Council, here are a few of the activities and sessions occurring on Sunday.
Student Sunday Highlights
Start #StudentSunday off right and witness first-hand how community activities encourage healthy lifestyles and help build the social fabric. Meet at 6:30 a.m. for NPC19’s 5k Run and Walk, where you can run or walk along San Francisco’s famous Bay with your fellow NPC19 student attendees, planners, and the sunrise. Registration is required.
Meet your Student Representatives! Stop by the Career Zone in the Exhibit Hall for APA Volunteer Leadership and Your Career from 1:30–2 p.m. where you will meet your Student Representatives Council (SRC) representatives, ask questions, and discuss their personal experiences as APA leaders.
At 4:15, join the SRC/YPG Ideas Exchange. This annual session is dedicated to increasing dialogue between students and emerging professionals, and this year will be focused on the variety of leadership opportunities available to both. The featured panelists will be discussing their involvement with APA and the rewards it brings.
Immediately after the SRC/YPG Ideas Exchange, meet your preassigned mentor face-to-face at the Mentor Match Mixer. If you haven’t already joined the Mentor Match program, students and emerging planners at this mixer can make a new career-changing connection.
The networking continues at the Student Social Event. Held at the TableTop Tap House, this event is an opportunity to engage and network with your fellow students and emerging professionals in the heart of San Francisco. The first 15 guests to arrive with a selfie at one of San Francisco's privately owned public open spaces (also known as POPOS) on this map will receive a free drink!
