MORE SESSION DETAILS
Since 1984, the Planning Accreditation Board (PAB) has accredited planning-degree programs in North America. There are currently 72 accredited master’s and 16 accredited bachelor’s programs at 77 universities. PAB’s 2017-2022 Strategic Plan includes the goal to “promote and encourage a culture of innovation in program content and delivery.” During this session, the Planning Accreditation Board will engage planning professionals, educators, students, and other constituents in exploring the topic of innovation within the profession and the academy. Have planning programs been able to adapt and evolve to meet market demands, technological innovations, and community transformations? Has accreditation been a motivator or barrier to this effort? If so, how? How will innovation in planning programs lead to innovation in the field? Explore how accreditation can foster innovation in planning education, resulting in innovation in the field.
