How are cities putting their climate-resilience plans into action? New Orleans, South Florida, and the Tidewater region of Virginia are at the forefront of climate-change impacts, especially due to sea-level rise and flooding. Both have a wealth of data and experience from which to confirm their understanding of current conditions and plan for potential future changes and scenarios. Learn how New Orleans, Miami Beach, Norfolk (Va.), and the Hampton Roads Planning District have identified and prioritized actions to combat and adapt to the shocks and stresses of climate change, how those actions have been implemented, and what planners are learning and modifying as they move forward. Examine and discuss building resilience into city operations, capital planning, and budget-review processes; creating collaborative solutions that bring together disciplines and departments; and implementing updates and revisions to building and zoning codes.
