WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

  • How to describe use cases for low speed AVs in urban, suburban, rural contexts and help create solutions for ensuring accessibility and equity in deployment
  • How to engage with communities, stakeholders, and providers in planning, executing, and evaluating low speed autonomous pilots, benefits and challenges to stakeholders in their community
  • How to identify risks and opportunities with respect to LSAV deployment, strategies for risk mitigation, and lessons learned from initial pilots

MORE SESSION DETAILS

Autonomous Vehicle (AV) Shuttles and AV Taxis are moving forward as demonstrations, pilots, and full-scale deployment. These low speed AVs can provide shared transportation to mobility deserts, provide first and last mile connections, and lead the way to greater accessibility for nondrivers of all types. With new service and business models proliferating alongside the new technologies, these new systems challenge planners and operators alike to understand how to plan and implement these systems. This facilitated discussion is hosted by Kelley Coyner, program lead of APAs AV Symposium and Alisyn Malek, COO, May Mobility. Hosts will set the stage for this highly interactive discussion. Kelley Coyner will outline the state of play for AV shuttle pilots and Alisyn Malek, COO of May Mobility will describe May Mobility’s business model for working with communities to expand mobility service especially where there is no or limited transit. Sean Quigley of Transdev joins as a third host and resource as a large mobility service provider.
