Many of us went into planning to change the world and make communities more equitable. Yet often those goals get lost in the zoning or regulatory minutia.
Back in 2000, four Columbia University planning graduates vowed to change the world via planning. Where are they now? These planners share perspectives on equity and how they are weaving it throughout their careers — whether that is through racial justice, LGBTQ rights, women’s rights or teaching future planners around the world about often overlooked planning in Africa. Speakers demonstrate how they advocate for LGBTQ rights within the private sector and government. Learn how philanthropy and planning intertwined to create a racial equity grantmaking model through mapping. Discover how international perspectives can be incorporated into teaching practices to ensure future planners learn truly global lessons. Learn about resources, trainings, and tips on creating an equity action plan for your career and for your workplace.
