Redevelopment Project

City of Cape Girardeau

Cape Girardeau, MO

This project represents a unique City partnership with a private property owner. The buildings at 631 & 635 Good Hope Street have fallen into disrepair and will require significant investment to rehabilitate them. The current owner lives out of state and does not have plans to make further investments in the property. There is also a $51,684.73 tax lien on the property resulting from a City initiated demolition of the former building at 633 Good Hope Street, which had collapsed due to structural failures. The owner has agreed to donate the entire property to a developer selected by the City. The tax lien will be transferred to the developer at the time they accept the property. As a provision in the agreement, the City will agree to waive the tax lien on the property upon substantial completion of the developer's project.

Detailed information concerning the proposed redevelopment project is outlined in the PDF posted on the city's website:https://www.cityofcapegirardeau.org/rfp
