  • How to identify the ethical responsibilities of public- and private-sector planners when writing RFPs and submitting proposals
  • Best practices for communicating, bidding projects, and interacting with colleagues and friends
  • Real-world examples of what to do when faced with difficult circumstances

Explore the ethical responsibilities of planners in the very real world of bidding for and awarding work. This session will compare the multiple components of the proposal process to the AICP Code of Ethics from the point of view of planners in both the public (those letting planning contracts) and private (those bidding on contracts) sectors. Areas of focus will include communicating, bidding, and interacting with colleagues and friends. This session will examine real-world examples of both the recommended practice and what to do when faced with difficult circumstances. Attendees will be invited to share personal experiences and discuss ethical implications.
