This session will cover the challenges associated with replacement of the MO 76 bridge over Bull Shoals Lake.

Attendees will learn how the decision to build a new bridge next to the old bridge was made.  They will also hear about complicated environmental clearances requried because of property managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, consideration of public recreation interests, and  the presence of archaeologically sensitive areas.

The bridge is currently under construction; however, the speakers will discuss how flooding delayed the start of the project by 3 months, which impacted promises about traffic impacts that were made to the local school district and businesses in the tourism industry.  Attendees will also learn about the unexpected geological conditions encountered below the lake bottom and the effect they had upon the project schedule.
