We sometimes struggle to build meaningful coalitions that tackle complex intersecting challenges like affordable housing, transit access, jobs, and active living. This session provides 3 distinct case studies of successful and ongoing efforts to build coalitions to tackle big picture issues.
Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition, SV@Home, and the Greenbelt Alliance will share ongoing efforts at transforming El Camino Real, Matthew Quevedo of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group will discuss the complex coalition work involved in the campaign for Regional Measure 3 (Bay Area Bridge Toll), and San Francisco’s South of Market Community Action Network will share their worked to create a multi-racial, community organization that empowers, organizes, and mobilizes immigrant and low-income South of Market residents to fight for improvements to their quality of life by engaging in the decision making process that affects their neighborhood and greater San Francisco.
